15/4/09 Paris

We got to the airport no problem. We did have problems when I realized that we needed to get a stamp on our tickets or we couldn't fly. So we had to go back through security but one of the ladies said we could go to the front of the line when we came back. So we lifted up one of the line things and walked up to the front. Mom went a little too far and some Italian men were going to tackle her it looked like. The lady said it was ok though and we went through.

We had good seats in the second row and slept the entire time.

We landed in the small Paris airport, the only way back was a bus, which was fine.

We went and dropped off our bags at the hostel. I took a shower and we took the train down to St. Michel's to catch the free walking tour. It was ok, did most of the sites I'd already seen, Notre Dame, Louvre, Champs Elysee, we really didn't go that far. Ma and I got some pasties at a shop, and then we got some crossiants and some more pastries at another.

We walked down the Champs Elysee to the Arc de Triumph. We then walked down to the Louvre for the discounted after 6 time. Turns out I was free.

We went though quite a bit, lots of old Italian things, old scuptures, the place was huge. We saw a number of old da Vinci's and went and saw the Mona Lisa. It was packed and you couldn't get that close to the glass. But it was impressive, not that big but not as small as others were saying it was. We stayed for maybe 10 minutes and then went on to the rest of the museum.

One of the coolest parts we went to was the Napoleon III apartments, very lavish.
We left and went down to the Eiffel Tower. After a rickety elevator ride to the second level, we waited in a huge line for about an hour for the elevator to the third level. We were both pretty beat and the line sort of did us in. When we finally got to the top, it wasn't that great, the city isn't very tall so the view wasn't all that different. The coolest part was Eiffel's office on the top. But now I've been to the top of the Eiffel Tower, pretty cool.

We took the train back and saw that the cafe on the corner was open still so we went in a got some crepes. They were very good, worth the stop.

We got our room and went to bed quickly.
